Two totally different personalities who complement each other in the best way possible. ❤️


Jennifer and Michael met in 2018. Jen had just graduated college and started a job as a receptionist and travel coordinator at a company in her hometown Mahwah, NJ. Mike, originally from Verona, NJ began working for the same company a few months after Jen. Mike saw Jen right away and thought she was cute.


He tried to play it cool and seemed like he wasn't interested, but it was difficult. After some light flirting over the next couple of months and Jen randomly blurting out “hey do you have a girlfriend?” (And the immediate embarrassment she of course had after) he sprung his plan into action.


While in Texas working on a job for the company, he managed to get her personal cell phone number under the guise of needing to get in touch regarding his flight info in case he had trouble, since his flight was on a Saturday and Jen wouldn't be at her work computer. She then totally forgets to book Mike a car, which isn't surprising (something Mike always says to her). Jen fell into Mike’s plan and was so excited that he was texting her! Next Mike and Jen would always glance at one another during those awkward corporate birthday celebrations the company would throw an employee in the break room. It went from glancing at one another to texting and then so on. 


Their first date was at Ambulance Brewhouse in Nanuet, NY. After a few beers, a large pretzel, and Jen accidentally grabbing Mike's butt (a total accident by the way) they headed home and began texting more and more. They went out again to a very loud dance club bar (which Jen now realizes Mike strongly dislikes), so when Jen said let’s go to Just Jakes in Montclair, NJ, she now knows he must have really wanted to hang out with her.


After more dates and more time, Jen and Mike made it official. Mike asked Jen to be his girlfriend and she was beyond happy. They took their first vacation together where she grew up every summer in Cape Cod, Sandwich MA. They rented this awesome Airbnb right near her grandparents’ house and it was truly an amazing vacation. At this time no one really knew they were official.
Upon returning from vacation, Jen and Mike went more “public” about their relationship. It was then that they started meeting each other’s family and friends.


While taking a vacation in Charleston, SC, and staying with family, Jen and Mike talked about moving in together. They talked about it again on the plane ride home, and they officially sealed the deal in June of 2020 after making it through Covid times together. By this time, they had both left the company where they met and had been super romantic and playful hiding that they were dating to everyone that was working there (even though let’s be real, everyone knew Mike and Jen were dating). Mike would always check in on Jen while she was managing the front desk and Jen would always give Mike a smile every time he walked by.


Jen and Mike moved into their first apartment in Caldwell, NJ with Jen's dog Coco and eventually adopted a cat named Marco. Jen and Mike met a lot of friends in Caldwell, some of which they are so close to now that they consider them to be family.


After a year and half, Jen began talking about wanting to move to Charleston. Jen had wanted to move even before she and Mike were even dating and both Mike and Jen did have family there already. It seemed meant to be. They both landed jobs in Charleston and moved there (technically Mt Pleasant) in 2022 with Coco and Marco and have been there ever since. Jen of course made a point to join a group on Facebook to meet people and at their apartment complex they met friends who would become close. They have their friend group in Charleston, jobs, and their own little family, just the four of them. (Jen, Mike, Coco, and Marco).


Mike proposed to Jen on August 13th, 2023, on the beach on Sullivan's Island. It was the day before their dating anniversary and since it was the weekend, Jen only assumed they were going to the beach and dinner for their anniversary. Little did Jen know that Mike was going to pop the big question and propose! It was such a magical day and Jen had never been so happy (the only other time she had been so happy was when she adopted Coco and everyone who knows Jen knows how happy she must have been the day Mike proposed). After the proposal, they went to The Longboard on Sullivan's Island only 5 minutes away from where they live, and it could not have been more perfect.


In life we all know that things aren't always easy, but the way Jen and Mike work together as a couple truly is one of the best things about their relationship. They build each other up each and every day. In fact, they have been told that they are some of people's favorite couples ever because of the way their relationship works and their funny yet romantic interactions with one another. They go to bed each and every night with Jen hogging the covers, Coco at the end of the bed mostly on Mike's feet, and Marco between them. They wouldn’t want it any other way.
